It’s Turkey week and to start it off, we’ll get a small blast of cold temps after a cold front brings us cold rain on Sunday. The rain will most likely end Sunday night going into Monday, and the night time temps could drop down to the freezing point Sunday-Tuesday nights. On Wednesday, a low pressure system will begin to approach the area in the evening, which will keep the temps above 32 degrees(F). For Turkey day, we’ll likely get rain showers for a majority of the day, but the weekend should be mostly dry. The low pressure system will continue east and go out over the Atlantic Ocean, but a weak cold front could form behind it to the north on Saturday. Although the cold front will most likely not have any precipitation associated with it, there could be an isolated shower and it will be partly to mostly cloudy. Enjoy the holiday this week, and stay warm on those cool mornings!

Day Morning Temp/Afternoon Temp(*F) Description
Sunday 40-43/57-60 Mostly sunny skies.
Monday 44-47/58-61 More sun than clouds.
Tuesday 46-49/53-56 Mostly cloudy skies. Slight chance of showers during the day.
Wednesday 43-46/56-59 Partly cloudy skies.
Thursday 46-49/59-62 Mostly sunny skies.
Friday 49-52/60-63 Mostly sunny skies.
Saturday 49-52/61-64 Mostly sunny skies.

This week, the weather will likely continue this quiet pattern. Although a low pressure system should move northeast along the East coast on Monday/Tuesday, it will likely be weak. It may also stay off shore which would definitely decrease any chances of rain in the area on Tuesday. The low will move out of the area by Wednesday morning leaving behind dry, sunny skies for the remainder of the week. A high pressure system will move into the area on Thursday keeping all lows and fronts away from our area. Temperatures will be mostly above average this week by about 2-6 degrees(*F), especially as we get toward the weekend. Enjoy the nice weather everyone!

Hello everyone! This week looks pretty quiet for the most part. A high pressure system over the West Virginia/Virginia area will keep all low pressure systems and fronts north/south of the area until the end of the week. There is a cold front that may move through the area Wednesday afternoon which could bring some clouds and isolated showers, but the high pressure system should make it hard for any heavy precipitation to form. The high pressure system will begin to move east on Thursday and will make way for rain on Friday and possibly Saturday. What’s likely going to happen is a cold front will move southeast from Canada on Friday and will join with a low pressure system in New England that came up from the Gulf of Mexico. Depending on how close the low pressure system hugs the coast will determine whether we get a lot of rain or just a bit of rain on Friday afternoon/night. What these systems will bring behind them is cold air. Updates will be made when possible as needed. Enjoy your week!

A high pressure system will set up over the area Monday afternoon and will keep all rain away from our area until Thursday. A cold front will form in the midwest and begin to move east toward the city likely bringing an afternoon of rain on Thursday. The system won’t be around long though because by Friday, the sun should be out again. Day Morning Temp/Afternoon Temp(*F) Description
Sunday 54-57/65-67 Mostly sunny. Increasing clouds in the evening.
Monday 60-63/71-74 Cloudy skies. Isolated showers throughout the day.
Tuesday 62-65/76-79 More sun than clouds.
Wednesday 65-68/75-78 Mix of clouds and sun.
Thursday 62-65/67-70 Mostly cloudy skies. Showers possible in the afternoon(>2pm).
Friday 59-62/66-69 Moderate showers likely throughout the day.
Saturday 58-61/64-67 Showers likely throughout the day.

To start the week, Sunday will be sunny and comfortable before a weak cold front will push through the area Monday bringing isolated showers. Directly behind it, a warm front, associated with a low pressure system over the western Great Lakes, will bring warm temps for Tuesday and Wednesday. There is a slight chance for an isolated shower, but the warm front should mostly bring some clouds, warm temps and humidity because it will stay to our north. As the low pressure system moves east keeping the rain to our north, a cold front will pass through Wednesday night returning temps back into the 60’s for the end of the week. On Thursday, there’s a small chance that a tropical system could begin to form off the Florida coast in the Atlantic. The system looks like it will likely make landfall around the Carolina’s and then move north along the coast likely bringing lots of rain to the area for Friday. Another low pressure system will likely follow right behind the possible tropical system keeping rain around on Saturday as well. I’ll do my best to update as needed. Enjoy your week and the last feeling of summer temps!!

Day Morning Temp/Afternoon Temp(*F) Description
Sunday 54-57/65-67 Cloudy. An isolated shower possible.
Monday 59-62/70-73 Cloudy. Showers likely, mainly in the afternoon.
Tuesday 57-60/64-67 More clouds than sun. Isolated showers in the morning(>12pm).
Wednesday 53-56/65-68 More sun than clouds.
Thursday 56-59/66-69 Mix of clouds and sun.
*Friday 59-62/72-75 Mostly sunny skies.
*Saturday 60-63/70-73 Mostly cloudy. Showers likely in the afternoon(>12pm).

This week, we continue the beginning of the week in this cloudy/rainy pattern. The low pressure system located over the Great Lakes continues to stay almost stationary until Monday. It will begin to move eastward toward the coast which is why the chance of rain increases on Monday afternoon. By Tuesday, the low will be to our southeast over the Atlantic Ocean as it begins to stall again as a stationary front. A high pressure system will set up over Nova Scotia on Tuesday afternoon which will keep most rain to our south and west through Friday. A new cold front will approach our area from the west Friday night along with Hurricane Matthew. Although Hurricane Matthew will likely bring us some rain, the cold front should push Matthew out over the ocean before getting far enough north to hit the city. I’ll make updates whenever I can, especially if Matthew’s storm track changes a lot but until then, enjoy your week!

Update: Although Matthew won’t impact our area, I mentioned it before, and wanted to give an update on its likely path. Matthew is getting ready to slam the southeast coast of the states including Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. As of right now, Mathew will likely hug the coastline with about a 85% chance of making landfall in Florida early Friday morning. On Saturday, once Matthew is around the Carolina borders, it will be pushed out to sea slightly by the cold front that will bring the NYC area some rain. Matthew will likely weaken to a tropical storm by Monday morning, but because of Hurricane Nicole who is farther out to sea, Matthew will likely circle back down toward the Florida coast. Although Matthew will be much weaker if it hits Florida a second time, winds could still be around 30-40 mph which could bring small storm surges, especially to places that were just hit and weakened. All I can say is good luck to those who stay in the mentioned areas, and my thoughts are with you all. Stay safe!

Day Morning Temp/Afternoon Temp(*F) Description
Sunday 54-57/70-73 Mostly sunny skies.
Monday 53-56/70-73 Mostly sunny skies, becoming partly to mostly cloudy in the evening.
Tuesday 61-64/70-73 Rain showers likely early(>1pm) remaining cloudy in the afternoon.
Wednesday 60-63/74-77 Mostly cloudy skies.
Thursday 60-63/72-75 Cloudy. Chance of showers, especially in the afternoon.
Friday 59-62/72-75 Mostly cloudy skies. Chance of showers throughout the day.
Saturday 60-63/72-75 Mix of clouds and sun, clearing in the afternoon.

A high pressure system is in place for the start of this week keeping Sunday and Monday dry, though the nighttime temps will be on the cool side in the mid 50’s. A cold front will approach the area Monday night into Tuesday morning bringing some moderate to heavy rain showers. Although the cold front will move out of the area by Tuesday night, the main center of low pressure will still be situated over the Great Lakes region. The low will begin to weaken on Wednesday, so the chance of rain is unlikely but, Wednesday night, a new area of low pressure will develop on the coast of the Carolinas. This new low pressure system will strengthen Thursday and move up the coast. Most of the rain should stay to the east of our area, but on Friday, the low pressure system may stall and move slightly west which would bring scattered moderate rain showers on Friday. All chances of rain should be gone late Saturday morning.

I will be busy this week, but I will try to update the forecast as needed. Enjoy the week!

Hello everyone! This week, we start with a cold front that will be approaching from the west on Sunday/Monday morning. Associated with the cold front will be some scattered showers and thunderstorms around the area. There is also tropical depression Julia hanging off the coast of South Carolina that could help bring some steadier heavy rain Sunday night into Monday morning. By Monday evening, all rain should be over as the cold front moves out over the Atlantic, and Julia remains  to our south over the ocean. There is another cold front over the MN/WI area moving east just behind the initial cold front but, a high pressure system will move into the area Tuesday night/Wednesday morning which should block it and any other fronts/low pressure systems from coming into the area until the weekend. This means the end of the week should be pretty comfortable and dry. Updates will be made if needed. Enjoy your week!

*News: Posts will be uploaded on Saturdays for awhile now which means that forecasts will be Sunday-Saturday instead of Monday-Sunday. Everything else is on track as usual.

This week, we start off with a nice break from the humidity with temps around the 80*F mark. After a front moves through early Sunday morning, the air will become much drier and cooler as a high pressure system sets up over PA Sunday afternoon-Tuesday afternoon. A cold front will be moving towards the area from the northwest on Wednesday, but the system shouldn’t have too much precipitation with it. We may get a couple showers and isolated thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon/evening, but then it will be out of the area by Thursday morning. Behind the cold front will be much cooler temps and we could drop into the upper 50’s by Friday morning. The end of the week should be sunny and comfortable, but updates will be made as needed.
